#Karamel Has Ruined Supergirl

Look, I’m never going to be able to ship Karamel, and it’s for reasons that I can’t really get over. I didn’t like the person she became when she was with him. But as someone who was a Karolsen shipper, I’ll never get over how HORRIBLY that relationship was ruined and then replaced by Karamel. If they had written it better then I would be over it by now, but they abandoned it immediately and then replaced it with Karamel. It was super shitty of the writers to do that.

Now before Karamel shippers click away, if you haven’t already, I would still prefer she end this series with Mon-El. Or William. Or hell, even resurrect Karolsen in the final episode or something.

Because after years of the Supercorp fandom’s absolutely batshit, psychotic abuse I want them to get NOTHING. More than that, I want them to watch Kara end up with one of the men they harassed. Hell, put a cherry on top and give Lena a new love interest to end the season with. Can you imagine the meltdown if Lena and James got back together in the finale? I don’t think that will happen, but it would be fucking hilarious if it did.

I want this series to end with a lesson being taught to the Supercorp fandom so that their psychotic behavior doesn’t carry on to another show in the future. I want them to think that maybe it’s not the wisest idea to personally attack actors who have ties to the writers who can make your ship happen. Maybe try honey instead of napalm next time.

Avalance shippers campaigned HARD for their ship and they got it, and do you know how they accomplished that? They were supportive. They didn’t attack anyone. They didn’t harass an actor SO MUCH that they needed extra security at a convention. They just showed enthusiasm and excitement and they got what they wanted.

A part of me feels bad for the people in the Supercorp fandom who didn’t participate in the abuse, but that’s hardly enough of a reason for you to get your ship. I’ve been saying this for years, but it would be absolutely DISASTROUS at this point if Supercorp became canon. If it did then those abusers will think that their methods work and they will do it again.

They didn’t learn that lesson with Once Upon a Time, maybe it will get through to them with Supergirl. To the SC shippers who didn’t participate in the hate campaigns against the actors, I’m sorry, but this situation has much greater implications at this point.

Mon-El, James Olsen, William Day. These men, and their actors for that matter, have received more abuse from them than anyone. If Kara ends up with one of them, it will HURT. Especially William Day, they have a POWERFUL hate boner for him that I don’t fully understand. Like they hate Mon-El and James, don’t get me wrong, but for some reason William sets their blood on fire. It’s so weird.

Anyway, if Kara ends up with one of them I will end this series happy. It goes beyond shipping at this point. I want Kara to end this series happy and with someone who will love and respect her. Call me crazy, but I would like that to be someone who didn’t use kryptonite on her.

I’m genuinely confused as to why people are coming at Chris Wood when he did absolutely nothing wrong???? I’ve watched that interview multiple times trying to see what all these people are talking about and literally none of it happens…..like do you hate him that much that you warp a SARCASTIC statement that he made (which Katie literally said in another interview just without the sarcasm???) to make him seem problematic and have people turn against him? I mean I should’ve expected this to happen though since the supergirl fandom has hated Chris since day 1 for some unknown reason and have been trying to find things to use against him…..when he’s literally one of the most unproblematic people from that whole cast lmao

What do we KNOW about Mon-El’s return on Supergirl?

I thought maybe it would be worth it writing a short primer for people who are curious, or who have heard the news and don’t know what to think.

Q: Is Mon-El back on Supergirl? 

A: Chris Wood (Mon-El) and Jeremy Jordan (Winn) were seen in costume shooting scenes for a big battle scene on Supergirl (as was Mehcad Brooks as James Olsen/Guardian). This is likely the final battle against the villains to take place in the series finale. This means he is back shooting scenes, but it might be as little as just one episode, we don’t know for sure. 

Q: What if he is just a vision or a doppelganger? 

A: It’s very unlikely because both Mon-El and Winn are back and we have pictures of them in a second scene wearing different outfits. That other scene looks like a funeral scene with them as guests. 

Q: Is it just a background cameo? 

A: In the behind the scenes pictures and videos we have of the big battle scene Mon-El is fighting at the front next to Kara, doing a superhero landing with her, while other characters like J’onn, Alex, Kelly, Lena and Andrea are further in the back. He seems to have a prominent position in the battle right next to Kara. 

Q: Are Karamel back as a couple? 

A: We don’t know. So far nothing we have suggests this. At the end of the battle Kara hugs J’onn, not Mon-El. Some pictures show them high fiving, which could be a reference to Karamel high fiving in 2x10, but that is just speculation, might not end up in the episode or might be between the actors, not the characters. 

For what it’s worth, it seems like Kara isn’t romantically attached to anybody else, there are strong hints that the one guy who showed an interest in dating Kara (William Dey) isn’t going to make much progress and might even die or at least leave. (Oh and so far nothing suggests Imra or Shadow Lass or anybody like that being there with Winn and Mon-El.)

Q: Why do people think that Kara will go to the future with Mon-El and Winn? 

A: At this point this is just speculation, but speculation with some basis. Part is of course that some people think it would be a cool ending, that there is precedence of Kara doing that in the comics and cartoons and Smallville, the other piece of suggestive evidence is that there have been shooting reports of scenes of characters in various locations that look a bit like they might be from a a “where are they now?” montage and Kara is noticeably absent from those scenes. 

Q: Won’t they bring him back just to ruin him? 

A: While we don’t know for sure, it looks like he has a neat position in the battle AND Chris Wood already did a cameo for Supergirl’s 100th episode. That episode gave him a decent amount of screentime, overall treated him fairly respectfully and included a very lovely scene of Mon-El giving Kara advice: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b7UHxw0A2sU While that scene wasn’t 100% hardcore unrefutable romantic, it was generally very appreciated among shippers and like I said, felt very respectful of their relationship and open to be read as something deeper.   

TLDR: Mon-El is back, but we don’t know exactly for how long. He seems to have a reasonably cool role and at least some fans think that it could end up with Kara leaving for the future and join the Legion (whether romantically or platontically in regards to Mon-El). At this point, nothing proves this theory, some minor evidence suggests it and nothing contradicts it so far. 

We will keep an eye out and report if there are any hints or confirmations inside or outside the show. Consider following @peggystormborn as somebody examining Supergirl episodes for clues. 

Q: Do I have to start watching from the beginning of the season to get caught up?

A: Probably not, in those scenes Kara was stuck in the phantom zone and didn’t have too much screentime due to Melissa’s real life maternity leave. Kara is returning in the episode when the show comes back, together with her father Zor-El who was stuck in the phantom zone, so that will probably be a good entry point. However, there is a pretty cute double episode about the young Danvers sisters if you do want to check out the earlier episodes.

Dead Karamel Fics Club

So, I was talking with a @raisedbyfandomwolves about the karamel fics ideas we are never going to write and I’m going to kill you with one of my ideas.

It starts sometime after s3. Mon-El for a few years is in the future and exploring with his Legion friend Sal the ruins of National City (most of the humanity lives in the flying cities, because the future, bitches!, and most of the earth is destroyed).

Suddenly Sal calls him, because he finds intact newspaper. Mon grabs it but it turns to dust, but before he manages to make a hologram of the first page with his ring.

The article written by James Olsen is about Supergirl’s heroic death.

In their Legion headquarters he, Sal and Brainiac are talking about the article. Mon notices some of the facts in the article are different than in the past he remembers, also Kara should not be dead on that moment aka someone is screwing the timeline.

He demands (aka showing Brainiac into the wall and threatening to murder him with cold blood) to be sent into the past. Sal agrees to come with him.

The problem is, the device Brainiac offers is not good – it can bring you back once and then goes poof!. Also, they can’t take anything with them aka they end naked *Terminator’s theme in the background*. So, no legion rings. Also, they may or may not turn into a cloud made of molecules.

Mon of course doesn’t give a fuck but promises he won’t contact Kara or superfriends to not fuck the timeline more. Because they can’t take anything with them, Brainiac tattoos how to make the device on Mon’s back.

Before they are sent, they drink some rum and holds hands and byeeee, Brainiac Mon and Sal to the past.

What happens?

A lot can happen in 5 seconds.

In the first second, you can open your eyes and see darkness. You can realize you are levitating in air. You can also realize you are completely naked. In the second, you can fall down. In third, you can make a hole in the roof of a henhouse and be a cause of a collective heart attack of 20 poor chickens. In the fourth you can throw up the aldebaran rum you so unwisely drunk before Brainy sent your ass back into the past. In the fifth you can moan the one and only fitting word:

“Fuck.”

There is no Sal in the sight. Did he turn into a dust? Stay tuned!

Because I have amazing sense of humor, Mon is found by an old lady who is the owner of the henhouse. She aims a shotgun at him, while he, covers himself with a chicken and explains himself.

Because the lady is bored and she doesn’t see hot naked guys, she clothes him, feeds him and borrows some money for the bus to NC. In exchange, he fix some shit in her house.

In NC Kara is in her depressed mood that becomes worse, because sometimes she hears Mon’s hearbeat *sad violin music*

Mon is proceeding with his investigation but sometimes can’t help himself and watches her from some afar. So yeah, she really hears his hearbeat. Oh the ANGST.

He contacts… Lobotomizer (when I was developing this story I still didn’t mind her….). He explains her everything, shows her his mighty naked back and she promises making the device.

Then he is caught by *the drums* yes, you guessed right! Sal his pal, who is a Dxamite who survived the invasion (all his other friends-soldiers breathed too many lead and died) but was sucked by the same portal as Mon.

He is also *more drums* the guard who saved Mon on Daxam and yes! He wants revenge! Cold ass revenge! Because he blames Mon for his bro death, his chomik death (hamster on Daxam, Sal calls his Bob), his blah blah *villains bullshit* and will kill and destroy everything Mon’s love. Aka Kara :)

Mon somehow escapes the cage and runs to Kara who sees him for the first time, smiles and… ends dead, stabbed by a kryptonite blade. She dies in Mon’s arms and he blames himself, because I’m a cold bitch without a heart.

He thinks it’s all his fault and goes to Lena who gives him the time travel device. Instead of the future he goes to the past, to Daxam, the morning it is destroyed. He kills himself, because I’m super duper ass cold bitch. His guard tries to save him, but before he kills the Kryptonian, Mon-El stops him and allows the shocked ambassador to escape. Maybe, the guard accidentally shots him. Mon holds the face of his guard in his palms, says it’s the only way and embraces. And then kaboooom, all die.

Kara wakes up in the present, woken up by another nightmare, when she sees a strange random Daxamite guy who looks a little familiar but she can’t recall him.

Then Sal, who was sleeping beside her, because I’m a cruel horrible human being, wakes up, asks if it was a nightmare and they cuddle and come back to sleep, but Kara is still weirded out.

There is an implication Sal remembers the other timeline and everything what has happened.

THE END

Joking, I was thinking about part two, where Sal tries to prevent Kara from restoring her memories and shit happens, but because the power of love!, she does and then tries to save Mon-El. Not necessarily she would succeed because I really wanted to make this story horrible :P

So my thoughts

1. They turned Alex into a disgusting jerk who had the fucking nerve to blame Kara for what happened to Esme. They completely screwed over Chyler with horrid writing. I’m willing to bet Chyler cringed when she read her lines. When Lena was willing to let millions of people be changed into phantoms just to save Kara, and Alex wouldn’t let her, because you know it was wrong to put millions of people’s lives above Kara’s. LMAO only to turn around act like a complete DICK WAD to Kara, and was willing to allow the world to get destroyed by Nxly, so that she could get a little girl that she’s known all of 3 weeks back. I don’t give 2 shits if she went back to being the old Alex, when she got Esme back. Her character to me will always be a complete ASS WIPE forever..............so yeah the POS writers ruined ALEX. 

2. They have been RUINING Supergirl for years now. They made her this feeble women who constantly NEEDS saving by either Lena or Mon El. It’s disgusting and I’ve never seen SHOWRUNNERS AND WRITERS actively DESPISE their own lead character on the show. Supergirl once beat up Superman, and now she’s nothing but a shell of her former self, and I am thoroughly disgusted. I think it’s a good thing that she has put away the cape, because quite frankly just like she said she is the weakest person on the planet.

3. The writers, showrunners, and CW Executives CAN SUCK IT...............you are all horrible people for the over the top queerbaiting. Kara by the end of episode 20 must have called Lena her friend several times, and I took it as a big huge 2 middle fingers in Supercorps faces. 

4. It’s good that they killed off Lillian she’s a complete menace, and would have caused more trouble in the future, and or tried to get Lex out of the PZ.

5. Everyone else gets their romantic happy ending except Kara and Lena. Even Jonn gets Mcgann back at some point........but poor ol Kara and Lena. 

6. Did I mention how horrid the writing has been since season 2, and how they completely destroyed Supergirl for me?

7. At least Mon El and Kara didn’t go blissfully off into the future together and the Karamel shippers got ripped off too. The Supergirl show and the writers made sure that everyone got SHIT ON.

8. I’m glad Nia got Brainy back but so now the big brain will sometime in the future cease to exist? I can’t tell you just how stupid this shit is. They put brainy and Nia through hell for two episodes thinking that they had to part ways, only to turn around and have brainy give a big FUCK YOU to the big brain that will die sometime in the future along with every members of Brainy’s race???? Like why the hell did they even go there talk about stupid!!!!

Okay well that’s it and all I can say is that I am so glad this STUPID LAME SHOW IS DONE. I knew by the end of episode 14 that they weren’t going to put Supercorp as a romantic canon, and I stuck with that.....I feel vindicated that I was right, but still pissed over the gross horrid queerbaiting for years. Although I didn’t waste years on this show. I only started watching at the beginning of season 5, and I binged watched all the other seasons. Season 1 was truly the best Season, even if it didn’t have Lena in it. It’s been nice interacting with some people here I enjoyed it especially you @leighlew3. You seemed to be one of the only few people here with the voice of reason so thank you. Perhaps I will see some of you with future new ships we’ll see. As for me I am done with the CW for good. They screwed me over with CLEXA, and Supergirl. Those fucking losers will never do that to me again. I just hope many people here realize that giving the CW any publicity on Twitter with their shows is counter productive for the LGBT community. The CW doesn’t not deserve your support so please think twice about giving it to them.

Supergirl and Shipping

I was thinking about this last night and I just couldn’t wrap my head around how Supergirl has been pretty up and down with all the couples and ships of the show. Quite frankly, I don’t think anyone as been spared from poor treatment. Ship Wars in the fandom need to end and we should agree that SG has done us all dirty. I’m a Supercorp shipper, and some of my best friends are Karamels, but we can talk about our ships with fighting about them. We as a fandom need to acknowledge that there are toxic people in the shipping fandom, but not all shippers are toxic. You don’t have to like the ship, just respect that someone else does. Agree to disagree and move on if need be, but don’t fight please. Anyway, let’s take a look. Antis of any of these ships, please don’t interact.

Karaolsen: James was kind of a bland LI, admittedly, but that’s okay. Kara’s crush on him in s1 was really cute and the slow burn was worth the kiss in the end. But then they randomly end the relationship because Kara is “bored” by it. This couple might have actually planned to have been broken up but it’s hard to say. A*drew K*iegsberg interfered with it as soon as possible. This ship had potential to go far, but was never given the chance.

Supercorp: whole relationship is queerbaited by the studio. The chemistry the two actresses have is amazing. Lena and Kara are a good pair, having absolute belief in each other and would go to the ends of the world for each other (much like Olicity and WestAllen) but the studio went out of their way to have Lena do really awful things to Kara, and have Kara in turn do some really awful stuff as well. The show teases s5 is going to be a fight for Lena’s soul but then does everything it can to have Kara not to be involved, which made no sense. The parallels between Clois, WestAllen, and Olicity is ridiculous. Overall this is one of the more popular ships of the show but even then, the treatment of fans has been pretty rough. 

Karamel: Started off pretty cute, but then the show lost sight of itself in season 2 by having a huge focus be on Mon-El and the Daxamite storyline (this is not a roast of him or his character, this a general problem SG has with all its villains). The relationship was pretty rocky but finally settled into a groove (where Mon-El learns to finally respect Kara and her trust him) when the show tossed Mon-El into space. Then they tease the Karamel fandom by having him come back with a “will he, won’t he” storyline that ruined the development that he had into a mature character by having him emotionally cheat on Irma. Both him and Irma deserved better from that season.

Sanvers: Maggie and Alex probably wouldn’t have lasted the whole show, tbh, but the ending sucked. They knew Florina was leaving so they rushed the awful marriage storyline and then had them fight over children, something that was never brought up until that moment. Even when together, there were whole episodes where Maggie was only in it for 30 seconds and there would be no Sanvers scenes in the episode.

AgentReign: This was one of the roughest ones for me. Sam was introduced as a single mom with a child, and the chemistry between Odette and Chyler was through the roof. I don’t know if they planned for them to ever get together but it sure felt that way. Odette was not returning for the next season and they knew that, but instead let the fandom fall in love with the these two hoping they would get together, only to realize that it was never happening. Just a big ouch.

Lames: I think this ship is actually my least favourite of the whole show. Only because of how poorly it started out. James didn’t mind Lena at first, even thinking she was a good person because of Kara’s belief in her. But then the writers had him start mistrusting her and quite frankly never being kind to her unless Kara forced him to play nice. Then out of nowhere the show is like “nah they have the hots for each other” which was completely random. Then when it finally seemed okay they ended it...because reasons.

Dansen: I really love this couple but they got the short end of the stick. S5 ignored them in favour of Lex having infinite amounts of screen time. I wish there was more content, but it’s not from a lack of trying. The show hopefully gives them more screen time in the last season and maybe even ends with having them adopt a child together. They’re very mature and good for one another. They support each other through hardships and I wish we saw more of it in s5.

Brainia: The couple is super cute! I hate how s5 treated them, because it seemed like they made up drama for them to fight over. Nicole and Jesse had amazing chemistry and I’m glad they followed through with it. But hopefully they fix everything in s6, because I’m going to be very disappointed in the show if it doesn’t get resolved properly.

So yeah, looking these ships it's frustrating because they all had/have potential but the show hasn't been the best at actually following through with it's promises. Dansen and Brainia will both probably become canon, but it's sad when you think about the amount that has been spent on one of them while the other went through unnecessary drama.

All in all, being a shipper in the SG fandom sucks, haha.

Kara needs to realise she's in love with Lena on her own!!

I've been seeing a lot of posts saying they wish Cat Grant would come back and tell Kara she is in love with Lena, or that Alex should tell her.

But the thing is, I don't want that to happen!

Guys, one of things that has been annoying people to no end is the fact that Kara has to be TOLD she's into someone. She had to be told she was into Mon El and she's basically being told she's into William.

Lena had to be told she had chemistry with James, a romance that came out of literally nowhere and didn't go anywhere but rock bottom because of the lack of build up, chemistry, communication and utter disrespect James had for Lena both as a girlfriend and as his boss.

Anyone who reads my posts knows I couldn't stand James, but at least he and Kara had actual chemistry in season one right from the get go. Kara didn't need to be told she was into James, she was aware of it. She did however have to be told by Alex that Adam was flirting with her.

So why would we want someone to once again tell Kara she is into someone rather than her coming to this realisation all on her own?

Should the writers ever put Kara and Lena together they need to come to the realisation that they are into each other all on their own. Constantly having to be told you are into someone is a poor way of showing a romance.

Antis would have a field day it Alex or anyone else told Kara she was in love with Lena. They would say the exact same thing we've been saying, that they had to be told this because there is no chemistry.

So no, I don't want Cat Grant to come back to tell Kara she's being and idiot and is in love with Lena. Should the writers want to make SC canon I want Kara to realise she's in love with Lena. I want the writers to stop making her an oblivious dumb ass who protests she isn't into someone only for another character to tell her she must be and for her to be like "yeah you must be right and I must be wrong " and to constantly second guess herself.

Kara had chemistry with Mon El but the relationship was riddled with problems, lies and a lack of respect. Not all on Mon Els part, Kara didn't have a lot of respect for him either and tried to push him into doing something he didn't want to do.

My biggest issue with Karamel and why I never saw it as endgame was because these two characters didn't really know all that much about eachother. Kara knew Mon El the ex royal guard and the new person he decided to be on Earth and Mon El knew Kara Danvers and Supergirl. Kara didn't know who Mon El truly was until just before she had to send him away. She found out he was the Prince she couldn't stand and they had no time to discuss it before he was yeeted into space. After Mon El came back he was someone completely different, he wasnt the Mon El she had known and Mon El finally got to meet Kara Zor El. This would have been good for me if he hadn't come back with a wife. But he did, and he still strung Kara along, even discussing his marriage issues with her to the point she told him she didn't want to hear it.

Now Kara and Lena have a similar issue. Lena got to know Kara Danvers and Supergirl but unlike Mon El she knew them as two separate people. Kara got to know Lena Luthor, Lena didn't have a secret second identity and didn't lie about who she was, she didn't pretend to be "Lena Thorul" or "Tess Mercer". Kara actively kept her identity a secret from Lena which would have been fine if she hadn't gone all OOC in season 3 and decided she could play Lena by being an ass to her as Supergirl but then come back and play nice and be Lena's bff as Kara Danvers. Yes, Lena kept secrets from Supergirl but she didn't do these things to hurt her, secrets were kept to protect Sam and it's not like Supergirl didn't keep secrets from Lena. Lena didn't tell Kara everything either, but why would she tell her civilian best friend about the top secret projects she was working on ? Or that she had met with Lex and was keeping him alive? What buisness is that of Kara Danvers?

Remember when Kara screamed at Mon El that she had given her heart to a lying Jack ass?

what if Lena believes she gave her heart to a lying Jack ass as well? Lena even told Kara that she had broken her heart.

The funny thing about these two is that no matter what they just can't forget about each other. Even when Supergirl was being an ass to Lena she was still there for her and Lena was still there for Supergirl. They may have been mad at each other but they came swooping in whenever the other needed help.

Remember the scene where Kara had hoped that what had happened wouldn't ruin their friendship? But Lena wasn't going to sit and take that and told her that she had real friends, ones that didn't lie to her and didn't ask her boyfriend to vilolate her trust? Kara or rather Supergirl looked broken and what did she do? Kara went straight back to Lena for the first time in RAO knows when as Kara Danvers so she could be with her best friend so she could have Lena in some way. But we still saw the guilt on her face when Lena said she could never trust Supergirl again.

Then we had the reveal and great RAO!! That was one of the most emotional scenes the show has ever produced. Kara was broken! She knew what she had done was wrong, keeping the secret for a while wasn't wrong but all the bull shit that came with it and the length of time was what was wrong. Kara herself has admitted this. Kara was practically hyperventilating when she revealed herself and when Lena just walked passed her she was broken. The look of utter relief when she believed Lena had forgiven her was amazing. Personally to me it looked like Lena really did in some way forgive her and couldn't bear to see Kara like that. She's always been weak around Kara, but the moment she was alone with the AI and only her thoughts for company the hard side of her that closes of any feelings of love came out.

Then we had Kara going out of her way to try to make Lena happy. She flew around the world to her her favourite things to make her happy. Lena really looked like she appreciated this , I know that she was pretending but part of me thinks she really did appreciate it. It only took a request and one pouty face from Lena for Kara to break the law, to go against advice not to do it just to make Lena happy. Non of that was healthy for either one of them, the problem was that they didn't really discuss the 3 years of lies and everything that came with it. They had a few tears and a hug and suddenly were bffs only with super benefits now. We know why Lena didn't bring it up, but Kara was willing to accept that everything was absolutely fine and she didn't really question it, she was to over the moon Lena seemed OK with her.

Then we had the scene in the Fortress. Lena may have been trying to play the big bad I don't need you Luthor in this scene but she failed miserably. This was Lena's turn to absolutely break down like Kara did at the award ceremony. There are true feeling of love between these two whichever type of love you decide it is. You don't break down over someone you don't care about. Lena shot Lex to keep the world and Kara safe even though she felt betrayed by Kara. Now I know people hate that Lena used Kryptonite , but I'm sorry Kara showed no signs of pain, only heart break. Plus no one gave a rats ass when Jonn or Alex used it on her and she showed it bloody hurt. Even after she was released from the fortress she showed no signs of being in any pain, so any 'torture' commentators can sit down before you hurt yourselves.

Kara STILL believed in Lena and didn't want her hurt when she was about to use the medusa virus. It was Alex who used and manipulated her. Kara was almost getting through to Lena before Alex decided trick her then to point a canon at Lena! Rememeber it was Hope that shot at Kara, Lena didn't want that to happen at all.

Lena is still fighting to help save the day even when she supposedly hates Kara. She helped during Crisis and even if she did 100% hate Kara and the super friends she is still the reason 1000s are still alive. But no one wants to remember that. No one wants to remember she's the reason National City survived the Daxamites, no one wants to remember how she helped with Reign. No one wants to rememeber how she re-created Harun El and cured cancer. No one wants to rememeber that she mass produced Harun El and gave it to Alura along with the recipe so Argo could survive. No one wants to remember she saved Argo a second time when she shot Lex. No one wants to remember that she saved all the aliens of National City from the isotope. No one wants rememeber she had a suit ready to save Supergirl from the poisoned air. Shall I go on? Lena Luthor is a hero, she's going down a dodgy path because she is hurt, confused, betrayed and traumatised but it doesn't mean she's evil. A lot of fans don't seem to understand the definition of the word at all, Lena isnt being good right now by any stretch of the imagination but she certainly isn't evil.

People keep saying how she should finally have her redemption, and how bad it is that the guys get theirs. But here's the thing, all those things I mentioned above? Those ARE Lena's redemption. To be completely honest, Lena came into the show with people believing she needed redemption because of her name. But she didn't, it wasnt Lena herself who needed the redemption, it was the family name. Lena hasn't redeemed the Luthor name so much because Lillian and Lex kept f**king it up, but my RAO she has more than earned her place as hero and not like her family at all. This right here? Is a set back and everyone likes to conveniently forget everything she's done.

The writers have made Lena very OOC this season. Personally I think she will give up on this idea of hers. Lena isn't an angel, but then neither is Kara, or Alex, or Jonn or Brainy. The only actual angels at the moment are probably Nia and Kelly since we haven't seen them do anything dodgy or kill anyone (I'm assuming bad past Brainy did) and have it glossed over like it didn't matter.

But now we have Kara still not being able to stop talking about Lena. Even in regards to possibly starting a relationship with William she can't help but compare it to what happened to Lena.

Now that was a lot, but bottom line is if Kara is in love with Lena SHE and only SHE needs to come to that realisation. Having someone else tell her would cheapen it and make it look like the writers had no choice but to have some tell Kara to make it real, just like that have been doing non stop so far.

Plus Lena and Kara can not start a relationship any time soon. That would be a terrible idea. They can realise they are in love but starting something together would be rushed and unhealthy. THERAPY! They have Kelly there! But personally I think Kelly giving any kind of therapy to her girlfriends sister and her brothers ex would be a conflict of interest. She would be biased in Kara's favour whether she would realise it or not.

Why Hate Other Ship Fans....and by Extension the Actors???!!!

I’ve read comments recently on haters attacking specific ships they disagree with, and even the actors.  I have seen the evidence myself.   I came into this debate late because I originally watched the show for the sister’s relationship which I always found so touching.   I noticed the incredible chemistry between Melissa and Katie, but didn’t really scrutinize the queerbaiting that started to creep into their scenes until much later, re-watching the show.  I was a Karamel fan and still like Mon El, although I agree their attempt at trying to portray a redeemed character worthy of Supergirl was just sloppy and they ruined any potential.  I also think the writers inability to avoid the queerbaiting basically put the nail in the coffin of Karamel.  Reason being if you are going out of your way to queerbait and highlight the relationship and growing closeness with Kara and Lena, and continue to build up the compelling, kindhearted world saving genius.....well how is any character going to compete with that???  I do think Chris Wood has great comedic timing and I found him funny, I loved the cute clueless alien scenes, and there is no doubt he and Mel had chemistry, but it was too late because they had already introduced in Lena a character unmatched.  Anyway I digress.....the point I am trying to make without rambling too much, is I cannot understand the need to hate on a particular group of people simply because you disagree with their choice of a ship.....and it certainly is not the actor’s fault.  

I have never seen such hate directed at a group like what SC shippers have to endure!   The level of hate is so ridiculous that antis even feel the need to spend time and money on bots to outvote SC on online polls, spend time and energy putting up fake profiles trying to frame the SC fans (this is fact I myself uncovered a few), and go to the lengths of sending hate to the actors in an attempt to further frame.  Those are the true crazies, but there are also just the haters who are easily identified by their profiles because the entire page is usually nothing but hate and memes attacking the particular individual playing the role they despise.  If that describes you maybe its time to reflect.  I cannot say myself I do not dislike the character of William, but I do recognize it’s just a badly thought out character, logic dictates the actor is innocent and people should refrain from sending him any negativity.  Same with people attacking Chris or Katie because they dislike the shippers.....ridiculous and childish.  

With SC the hate is out of control because it’s driven by homophobia, end of story.  The level of hate is evidence of small bigoted minds that cannot handle any logic attributed to seeing and recognizing the queerbaiting. The fact that non-shippers to industry writers alike have pointed out the blatant scenes with romantic parallels in music and dialogue, is something the homophobes, and individuals with anti agendas cannot admit to.  Thankfully the number of people without an agenda who not only sympathize but notice the obvious, is actually growing.....a fact CW should consider.  The issue of hate is something ANYONE wishing this show to continue should carefully consider, when interacting with other fans and particularly the actors or show-runners. Sadly I have to admit I do feel the show-runners have inadvertently contributed to much frustration due to what can only be interpreted as small mindedness. Having said that, I would never send them hate, it achieves nothing in the end and would make me part of the problem their writing decisions have created.  It is normal and understandable to feel frustrated with bad writing and it’s human to feel passionate about a subject important to us......but the line to hate should not be crossed.  Frustration is logical if it stems from seeing what is insulting.....like the queerbaiting.  

To the homophobes who spend every waking hour trying to come up with ways to insult, attack, undermine, frame, and generally diminish Supercorp and fans.....you really for the sake of your mental health, should ask yourself this question......WHY IS THIS SUCH A NEED????   Hate is in fact undermining the very show you are so passionate about!  So consider your actions when interacting with others.

Not sure if you're aware, but Defense Squad tags are for those that like the character or pairing. Look, I’ve been indifferent to Karamel for a long time, mostly because they haven’t existed in a long time, but I really hate this Kara going to the future in the finale theory. She’s going to abandon her family, all of her friends, her loved ones, her new niece, the entire life she has built up, all so she can go to a future where everything she cherishes is long dead just so she can live a life with Mon-El, whom she has barely spoken to in years.

Somehow...that makes sense to some of them. One of the biggest problems I’ve always had with Karamel, and this is a significant problem with Supercorp as well, is that what’s good for Kara never seems to factor into either one of those ships, especially from a large chunk of the people who ship them.

Kara’s character development, her feelings, her connections outside of the ship, her career, none of it matters unless it somehow contributes to their ship. If it doesn’t then those things don’t matter and the ship overrides everything else.

Both fandoms, or at least the toxic shitheads in those fandoms, would be totally okay with a complete and utter character assassination of Kara as long as they got their ship, and in their minds, a big, fat “I told you so” at the end to rub it and people’s faces.

What’s good for Kara, what would make her happy, what would make sense for her, isn’t important to these people.

As much shit as James and Kara’s relationship used to get, it still ended because Kara believed it was the right move for her. Abandoning everything that means anything to her and going to the future to be with one man would be epically shitty writing and would be one of the worst ways to end this series.

I won’t lie, a part of me would chuckle a little bit because this outcome would absolutely infuriate the Supercorp fandom, and I have a looooong documented history of calling out their psychotic, obsessive behavior, but it wouldn’t be worth the destruction of Kara’s character development.

I think Kara retiring, and possibly willingly giving up her powers, would be the best outcome for her. It would make her character arch come full circle, she could still be there with her friends and family, and she wouldn’t be able to participate in the heroism anymore but would have full confidence that her superhero friends have it covered.

She could focus on her career and what makes her happy. She could just be Kara. In my opinion, being Supergirl has been weighing on her more heavily this season and I keep getting the feeling she wants to do something else with her life. Being Supergirl has gone from being an important part of her life to actively ruining it.

It's happened again. A show has basically been ruined for me because of the insisted need for romance. Like it happened with Arrow and now Supergirl. Why? Why do these writers feel the need to force romance into these shows. It happens in all of them and while I can tolerate it in Flash and Legends is somewhat a special case for me, Supergirl as just been changed and it's ridiculous and although Arrow isn't so focused on it, I still have issues with other plot points Side plot romance I can handle. Why? Because it isn't forced onto me. I would actually like Mon El if this entire "I'm in love with you, but you don't feel the same, oh wait you do!" Plot didn't happen. Having this stuff sidelined means I can enjoy the main story line and not have to feel stressed if a couple like Karamel or Olicity is on screen because I don't ship them, but also it allows those that like these couples to have some form of happiness about it I genuinely love all these shows, truly I do. And I'm not going to stop watching them because I invested time and energy and feeling into them. I wont give up on them, but right now, it feels more like a chore to watch these shows. It's hard for me to feel any genuine investment and that makes me so sad

@peggystormborn many people, particularly in fandom feel that way (and shippers in general) about triangles, but writers still like them because it's an easy way to fill airtime and spice things up. And successful shows like Grey's Anatomy are built almost entirely on triangles. There's a reason why writers keep using them, they work and are an easy way to fill airtime. 

Shippers often have a very one track way of thinking, of the kinds of stories they want to see. Like maybe a really slow getting together time, then lots of the couple being happy, being threatened by outside forces, maybe telling each other their angst things and supporting each other, never seriously wavering emotionally. There is like a short list of “allowed” conflicts that are considered “pure” enough not to disturb an OTP (like amnesia or mind control). 

But that’s just not how most writers think. Male writers in particular, but even many female writers. Shows live on conflict, tension, cliffhangers. Reducing them down to an “allowed” list of OTP plots is extremely limiting to them as writers and I’m sure many just flat out don’t enjoy writing that as a genre. 

If Mon-El had really stayed in season 4 or beyond, I’m completely sure they would have had to concoct a valid reason to keep Karamel apart as a couple for the next few seasons (that’s why it was my speculation that maybe the original plan was to do an Oliver/Laurel/Tommy or Barry/Iris/Eddie type story with Imra or maybe they planned to drag out Mon-El has to keep staying married to Imra because of The Alliance and he has to keep lying to Kara about it because lying is heroic in Supergirl world). The structure of Supergirl imo just wouldn’t have worked with Karamel as solid couple. (and the show wasn’t just going to be so friendly to cut itself short after just 4 seasons because that would have been nicer for Karamel fans)  

As you pointed out yourself, triangles usually work best when they are at the core symbolic. The most frequent one usually being security versus excitement (or the reverse, shallow excitement versus faithful love). I guess they were trying to go for love versus duty with Kara/Mon-El/Imra?

Also, I don’t think you will ever get your wish of Kara regretting not choosing Argo. It’s kind of the nature of these shows that they are earth stans first. And even though Alex position within the show has been hollowed out to some extent, in the end the sisters still are the signature core of the show. I mean, there’s a reason why Alex is the one who got to come along to the big Arrowverse crossovers, Or why Red Kara was focused on Alex. 

The show is never going to imply that Argo is better than Earth because it would constitute a rejection of Alex and everything she means to Kara’s development. A Legion ending is slightly more possible because it could be framed as Kara “graduating”, moving on to different things (kind of like the sisters going their own ways in Frozen 2), but her going to Argo would be seen as regressing.

In the end, the writers just haven’t framed Kara’s choice to give up Argo as something that was a great loss (with season 4 suggesting that there are ways Kara can show her heritage even on earth), probably because the writers just weren’t really interested in the topic (Argo being one of the things that likely stayed from Kreisberg’s original plan for season 3 and that they couldn’t discard so easily, doesn’t mean that they were keen on the idea of Argo being a thing, maybe they would have discarded it completely if they could have, but they just couldn’t). And the writers aren’t just going to magically change their convictions and framing on this if they are just not interested in it. 

In the end, there are just different story archetype. The archetype the hero rejects his puppy love and has his first real relationship (like Lana/Clark/Lois) can exist and be a completely valid story in one setting. While in a different setting the hero get seduced by the shallow big city woman, but then realizes that his heart was with his faithful childhood best friend can be completely valid in a different setting. 

Just like the appeal of the Superman story was definitely to some people that the alien is so perfectly integrated that he is more human than the humans was definitely a romantic appeal and it definitely has an appeal to the majority population. While a minority might be more likely to request that a immigrant coded character should return to their roots or embrace their heritage and resist completely integrating. And in the middle you have the synergistic approach of finding a compromise. 

If the writers have no immigration background themselves or at least aren’t invested in this aspect of Kara’s story, they are just never going to see the appeal of Kara embracing her roots (and it’s not going to be an appealing message to the majority audience that you can’t date the hot ethnic chick because you are never going to measure up to a guy from her home country). They might be more in love with the concept of her character as the heroic girl who lost everything but still keeps on fighting (I wouldn’t be surprised if somebody who perceived Kara like that would think that Argo should never have been discovered and Alura should never have been alive because that “ruins” the approach of Kara as the girl who lost everything and found new life with Alex, earth and her friends). 

I’m not saying you shouldn’t ask for more Kara’s heritage stuff, but I think one also has to be realistic. And this includes, the writers aren’t just going to magically change their interests. 

I agree that a triangle between Mon-El/Kara/William would make a lot of sense, but I think even if Mon-El were to come back for season 6, so far their track record has shown that they don’t do triangles, even in those cases where it would have made a lot of sense (like I’m sure most normal shows would have written a story that when Brainy breaks up with Nia to save the world somebody else starts romancing the heartbroken Nia so Brainy can be particularly sad and angsty as he watches Nia being happy with that other person, but gosh darn, he just can’t tell her the truth!!!).

Kara Danvers Sometimes Zor-El was a simple girl with simple needs, which is why she was going to kiss (and maybe, probably, most definitely do much more to) that jackass Daxamite at the Christmas party, even if it meant traumatizing all the guests for the rest of their lives.

Kara Danvers Sometimes Zor-El neatened her super sexy, clinging to her like a second skin, red dress, while standing in front of the door to her loft.

She took a glance at the big-ass mistletoe hanging just above her and nodded, satisfied. 

It was impossible to enter her loft and miss it. If someone walked under it, he - yes, he, because she had a specific guy in mind while hanging the mistletoe - had to kiss the person who opened the door. And that person was going to be Kara.

And the “he” was a piece of a well-shaped Daxamite ass that came back from the future two weeks ago, with Winn on his heels.

Yes, two whole, long frustrating weeks passed and he didn’t do a thing. He just informed them Brainiac was defeated, kicked Brainy back to the future to “talk to his fucking race and fix their problems, because no one else has enough patience to do it” and happily said that he was no longer a married guy. 

He got his bartender job back, started to help DEO and Supergirl as Valor, and everything was just like it was before.

Well, not everything.

As much as Kara was thrilled to see him happy, beardless, handsome and friendly, it was not enough for her.

Why? Because it was years, rao-damned YEARS, since she last had sex or any intimate activity with something other than her fingers or her vivid fantasies, and she was missing intimacy with a real lover as crazy. 

The worst thing was, her sexual frustration was visible and known to all, because even Brainiac noticed and asked if he should have made her an nth metal vibrator or some sex robot, to “improve her mental state and increase her general hero effectiveness that had dropped for 9,45345% since her celibacy started”. 

He said this in the middle of DEO, in front of 10 agents, Alex and J’onn. Yep, Alex was not going to forget that and will probably mention it at every family/friends gathering for the next 60 years.

But yes, Kara the prudish American slash Kryptonian girl liked sex and enjoyed it greatly.

And we all knew who was responsible for awakening her sex-loving side.

Too bad she sent his ass to the future. And then he came back. With a wife. And then left again. With his beautiful, nice, kind, amazing wife.

But hey! Her prayers were heard for once, and the only one who could make her satisfied returned (without a wife) and… acted like a friend.

A friend.

Maybe he thought she needed time? If that was the reason, he was an idiot because she has had enough time. A few fucking years… wait, there was no “fucking” there, ha, ha, ha… 

Ugh. 

Maybe he was the one who needed time? Possibly, but two weeks should have been enough for a Daxamite, right?

So, Kara created a deliciously simple plan to lure him into her lair by asking for help with preparing her Christmas party and cooking some food. 

Mon-El (unknowingly) vs Kara: 0:1

She was going to suggest the hot stuff in a super civilized way, perfect for politepeople like her, by simply grabbing his shirt, throwing him at the door and kissing him senselessly. And then throwing him at her bed and having some fun before the whole (non-important) party. 

Kara checked her watch (her dress made a cracking noise, like it was ready to tear in some strategic places) and frowned a little. He was 7 minutes and 45 seconds late.

Suddenly, her balcony window was opened with a bang.

“Sorry for being late but Winn had called just before I left and asked me to bring his board for the charades.”

Kara slowly turned and looked with wide eyes at the Daxamite who was putting the incredibly big board down. He had also a backpack and three bags full of food, ruffled hair, a one day shade, and was wearing a leather jacket.

Basically, he looked like a snack.

A snack that was not going to be consumed by her, because her freaking nerdy, so called best, friend hijacked her masterfully laid plan. 

She was going to murder Winn Schott.

Mon-El (unknowingly) vs Kara: 1:1

“Something wrong?” Mon-El asked with raised brows, taking the ingredients from the bags and putting them on her kitchen table.

“No.” She cursed in her head when he took a glance at the traitorous place between her brows, but thankfully it was covered by her bangs. “I’m just happy you are finally here.” Kara smiled genuinely.

Mon-El smiled back and, yes!, he finally really looked at her. Screw the mistletoe, there were other ways to make the guy lose his mind and kiss the girl!

“You like it?” she twirled, showing of her dress, that as you already know, clung to her like a second skin, showing off her goddess-like Kryptonian body.

“This dress is a killer,” he admitted without a second of hesitation and Kara started to smile wider. 

Ha! No way he was going to resist her now! No way-

“But are you sure it’s a good idea to wear it while cooking?” he asked and her smile, that supposed to be sultry, froze. “You may get dirty,” he said matter-of-factly and checked something on his phone.

Mon-El (unknowingly) vs Kara: 2:1.

Damn. He had a point. Knowing her cooking antitalent (but hey, did he just suggest she was a klutz...?) and the fact her squeezed breasts were going to escape her dress if she bent (hmm, maybe it was not a bad idea to bend in front of him...?), she should have changed it.

On the other hand, no Daxamite, no matter how handsome and lovely, was going to tell her what to do.

“I think I’ll manage.” She smiled and threw him an apron.

Five minutes later, somehow, just before Kara bent in front of him, she’d managed to shower herself with a pound of flour. 

Mon-El (unknowingly) vs Kara: 3:1.

She had a super quick shower and exchanged her sexy dress for a little less sexy dress that was not so tight.

Kara, trying to do something with her wet hair to not look like a drowned rat, and washing away her ruined make-up, told herself that now everything was going to be fine.

It was not.

Unfortunately, Mon-El looked like her Mon-El again (not like that bearded version that was very hot but, well, belonged to, ughhhhh, Imra) and behaved like her Mon-El.

That meant that he focused on cooking like it was the most important thing in the entire universe. And even a Kryptonian almost clinging to his back, breathing sensually down his neck and hovering over his shoulder didn’t change that.

Mon-El (unknowingly) vs Kara: 4:1

“Can you get me some cinnamon, please?” he asked while peeling some apples.

“Sure,” Kara sighed and opened a cupboard, when another plan appeared in her brain.

“Oh, no! I totally forgot I ran out of it,” she shut the door to the cupboard where an unopened package of cinnamon was innocently lying. “Can you fly to the shop and buy it? I’ll finish peeling the apples.” She smiled sweetly, and when she smiled like that, he just had to do what she asked.

When he flew away, she superspeeded peeling the apples, not caring that she peeled more flesh than skin, and rehung the mistletoe near her balcony doors.

Mon-El (unknowingly) vs Kara: 4:2

And then waited. 

And waited.

And waited.

15 minutes later she was sighing angrily and cursing the Christmas queues in the shops.

30 minutes later she started to create unpleasant theories in her reporter head. 

Like, he was checking his phone a lot and writing messages. And… right after their heroing jobs he would quickly return home. She was getting a nasty feeling that maybe…  he had someone? And flew to check on that person? 

Naaaah, it was impossible to find someone in two weeks, right?

Even when he was dashing, sweet, cheerful, charming and had an amazing ass.

Right...?

42 minutes later she was sure he had someone and just didn’t tell her to avoid hurting her feelings, and that was why he was avoiding her and-

The front door opened and Mon-El entered her loft again.

“Sorry, I met your neighbour, old Miss Kowalski in the shop, and helped her carry 5 bags full of cat food. Five bags, can you imagine? And we had a talk about cats and... ” he finally stopped babbling and looked at Kara who was still standing near the balcony door with an… unusual but very interesting look on her face he could not really read. 

“Uhm, is something wrong?” Mon-El asked slowly.

Kara, who was in the middle of internal existential crisis and on the verge of bursting into a hysterical laugh, made a face.

Mon-El (unknowingly) vs Kara: 5:2.

“No, just you know… cats,” she said flatly. 

She was going to make hot dogs from the damned mouse eaters. 

Mon-El who was currently frowning at the massacred apples and was ready to put cinnamon into them froze hearing her tone.

“You don’t like cats?” he asked slowly and took a glance at her. And then blinked, because wasn’t the mistletoe hanging in a different place before...?

“I absolutely adore them,” Kara smiled like a predator. “What’s next on the cooking list? Pudding? Awe and some.”

Humming, she approached the kitchen table and started preparing ingredients, totally missing the weird glances Mon-El was giving her.

Together, while preparing food, they managed to fall into an easy conversation about their friends, their jobs, heroing, Gameof Thrones and other not important things, they talked about everything but them. And it was okay for Kara, because thanks to that she managed to stay clean and didn’t cause any cooking disasters.

While pre paring the last snack, walnut macarons with salted caramel, they worked hand to hand, brushing their shoulders from time to time, smiling, feeling easy and incredibly happy, like during the old times when they started their relationship and everything was super easy.

And then she tasted the caramel cream, and of course she smeared some of it on her cheek.

Like it was the most natural thing to do, he simply brushed it and licked it off from his thumb.

Just like that her heart almost jumped out of her chest. 

Finally!

Mon-El (unknowingly) vs Kara: 5:3!

She bit her lip, closed her eyes and leaned into him…

But he didn’t notice.  

His phone had vibrated a second before. He turned around and immediately checked the message.

Mon-El (unknowingly) vs Kara: 6:3.

Kara kissed the place between his shoulder blades.

Mon-El (unknowingly) vs Kara: 7:3.

“Oops, sorry, I lost my balance,” she giggled nervously.

“It’s ok,” he murmured absently, focused on his phone.

Mon-El (unknowingly) vs Kara: 8:3.

And then, because he decided she needed to finally learn when to take out the cookies from the oven, he ordered her to guard the macarons.

Kara didn’t complain, because they were both crouching in front of the oven, their limbs touching again and he was describing in his amazing, deep, warm, smooth baritone how the perfectly baked macarons, that could make anyone’s mouth water, looked like. 

She was just glancing at his profile and fantasizing that it was her, not the damned, stupid cookies, could make his mouth water.

“Uhm, Kara? Were you listening? Now you can take them out, exactly 7 minutes have passed.”

She was harshly brought back from a Daxamite La La Land by his voice.

“Hm? Oh, sorry, I was just-” fantasizing about us “-thinking about how easy it is to miss the perfect moment.” She took the batch out and holy crap, as much as she hated them for making Mon-El ignore her, they smelled deliciously.

“Don’t worry, you can practise on the three last batches,” he smiled, put the second one into the oven... and just in case set an alarm.

And that was how she ended up guarding the cookies while he was opening the door for her guests.

He’s been opening the door. 

While the goddamned mistletoe was hanging near the balcony.

Kara watched him like a hawk, another master plan forming in her head. All she needed was a chance.

She was so focused on him that she over baked the second batch a little. Somehow, she didn't notice the alarm was ringing. Mon-El was not amused.

But screw the macarons, so far he opened the door for Alex and Kelly, her moms, Nia, James and J’onn.

Kara screamed inside of her head, because that meant only Winn was left - her last and final chance.

(Yes, only Winn. That Luthor bitch that was probably crying her crocodile tears in her mansion and drowning her Luthor’s pain in whiskey, was not invited.)

But finally, the universe, God, Rao or Santa Claus had some mercy on her and Mon-El went to the bathroom.

Kara, totally ignoring the smug faces of her friends and family, hastily re-hang the mistletoe and came back to guard the cookies, just before Mon-El left the bathroom.

Mon-El (unknowingly) vs Kara: 9:4

Thankfully, he didn’t notice the smug faces and conspiratorial whispers, because once again he was focused on his phone.

And then, finally someone knocked on the door and Mon-El approached it.

Time slowed down. The tension filled the room when everyone stopped talking and looked at his back. Kara slowly raised herself, ready to casually approach the door too and traumatise Winn and her whole family for the rest of their lives.

Unfortunately, it was really not her day.

Just before Mon-El had opened the door, the alarm rang.

 “Kara the cookies!” he yelled and opened the door. “Hey, Winn,” he greeted his friend.

Meanwhile, Kara was taking out the goddamned macarons using her superspeed, so some of them fell on the floor. When she turned around she saw something she would much rather not.

Mon-El was looking confusedly at the mistletoe above his and Winn’s heads.

“I swear it wasn’t hanging here...” he said with furrowed brows.

“Aww, you could’ve just said you wanted to kiss me, pal,” Winn laughed and patted Mon-El’s shoulder.

“Oh well, we better not piss off the Christmas god, huh?” the Daxamite said and kissed Winn.

On the lips.

Mon-El (unknowingly) vs Kara: 10 to -100.

Kara dropped the batch to the floor, the cookies spread all over the floor.

 Mon-El unglued, UNGLUED!, from Winn (who didn’t look slightly ashamed).

“Noo! Our cookies!”

Kara almost heard the facepalms that all of her guests were giving themselves inside of their heads.

But she didn’t really care because Mon-El. Kissed. Winn. Not. Her.

While the Daxamite was dusting off the cookies and apologizing to them for Kara’s horrible behavior, she approached her so called best friend, whose days were numbered - to one.

When the nerd saw her face he gulped loudly, because he knew his death was going to be painful.

Kara vs Winn: Game fucking over

Kara sighed and put the last batch into the oven. This time she hoped she was going to take them out in a perfect moment, because everything else on that evening was a freaking disaster.

If she had only known...

“Uhm, Kara?”

“Yeah?” she poured herself a glass of punch and looked at him.

Mon-El was biting his lip, looking nervous. And a little frustrated.

Her heart skipped a beat.

“Not sure how to ask, it’s sudden and you probably won't like it-” his voice faded into such a quiet whisper that even with her superhearing, she couldn’t hear anything.

“Hey just say it,” she smiled encouragingly. “It can’t be that bad as long as it’s not baking another batch.”

“Can I bring someone to the party?”

Kara choked on her punch and spit some of it on her dress.

“What?” she managed to squeak, between coughs.

“Grife, are you ok?” Mon-El grabbed paper towels and handled them to her.

“Perfectly fine, I just choked on an orange,” she lied, blessing her bangs again. ”So, you want to bring someone?”

“Uhm, I’m sorry, I know it’s a friends and family party but I really don’t like her staying alone  at home for so long and-”

Kara stopped listening. And maybe her heart stopped beating too.

I don’t like her staying alone at home.

Mon-El (unknowingly) vs Kara: GAME OVER

“Yeah, sure,” she interrupted his blabbering, because she really didn't want to listen to it. “Bring whoever you want, if... that makes you happy.” She said with furrowed brows, pretending to clean the stains from her dress.

Mon-El’s eyes lit up and he kissed her cheek.

But it didn’t matter anymore.

“I’ll be back shortly,” he said happily and flew away.

Kara focused on her dress, straightening out the creases, fighting the tears back.

“Oh, honey,” her mothers sighed at the same time.

“I’ll just-” she left them, grabbed the first clean dress from her closet and locked herself in the bathroom.

She changed the dress, cleaned her face, fixed her hair and didn’t think.

When she came back, she didn’t give a shit they were all throwing her sad glances. She just crouched in front of the oven and waited.

And she still didn’t allow herself to think about… stuff. She was so focused on it that she missed the perfect time. She didn’t hear the alarm. She just woke up from her state, when J’onn approached her and took out the cookies.

They were burnt.

Kara wanted to cry.

But then she heard a knock on the door, so she swallowed her tears and put a mask on her face - something she was so good at it.

Bracing herself, she opened the door that revealed -

A smiling Mon-El of Daxam who was holding a pussy.

Kara blinked.

Mon-El blinked.

The pussy didn’t blink.

“Are you crying?” The smile faded from his face in a second when he noticed her slightly red eyes.

“That’s a pussy,” Kara said and blinked again.

“What?!” she heard all of her guests gasping loudly (minus J’onn’ who was sighing tiredly). They all hastily approached the door and looked over her shoulders.

“I’m pretty sure it’s called a cat,” Mon-El said slowly, looking confusedly at the crowd of people that were looking at the creature in his arms with their mouths wide open.

The cat was incredibly ugly. 

She was a big tabby, with long, ruffled fur, jaggy ears, a tail thick like a bottlebrush, some  broken whiskers, scars on her nose, a bandaged paw and a missing eye. She looked like a barbarian cat fighter who could eat a German shepherd for dinner.

“Sorry it took me so long, she hates flying so I needed to walk,” Mon-El looked at the cat lovingly and scratched its ear. 

And Kara started laughing. A little hysterically.

But when she looked at Mon-El and the cat who were watching her like she was a little crazy, she coughed awkwardly and invited them in.

A cat. A freaking cat. She was jealous of the ugliest cat in the world. Dear Rao!

“I’m sorry, I know you don’t like cats,” Mon-El entered the room, took a glimpse at the mistletoe, pecked Kara on the lips and continued talking. “But she hates staying alone and my landlady who was taking care of her was leaving for her own Christmas party and… Are you ok?”

Because Kara was standing, frozen in her tracks, red faced, absolutely speechless, with her jaw hanging, looking like a fish.

“What? Was I not supposed to kiss you? Did I confuse the customs again or-”

“No, no, it’s ok,” Winn clapped his shoulder and saved Kara from embarrassing herself more. ”She’s just jealous our kiss was better and she is going to lose in the Christmas kissing competition.”

“There is a competition?” Mon-El sat on the couch and started stroking the cat, who was staring at Kara with one big and very judging yellow eye. 

“No!” Kara finally got her voice back.

“There totally is,” Alex dragged Kelly under the mistletoe and kissed her hard. 

“And the winners get laid,” Nia giggled and pushed Winn to the kissing spot.

“Oh, and you can repeat the kiss,” Eliza said loudly, winked at her daughter and high fived Alura.

“What?! No!”

Nia and Winn were still kissing.

“Winn? Maybe we should kiss again,” Mon-El asked seriously, but there was mirth dancing in his eyes. “This time with some tongue action.”

OVER HER DEAD BODY!

“Dude, you are so right,” said Winn, who finally stopped kissing Nia, but was standing suspiciously close to her, and burst out laughing when he saw Kara’s face.

Two seconds later his and the Daxamite faces were hit by flying pillows.

That was the moment when Mon-El’s ugly cat decided to not like Kara.

She totally ignored the Kryptonian while Mon-El told how he found her one day in his apartment, casually sleeping on his bed, like it belonged to her. How she started to visit him every night, sometimes bringing dead rats (he read some article that it meant she thought he was her baby that could not take care of himself). Which basically meant she adopted him. 

One day she didn’t come, so he started to look for her and found her in an alley not far from his apartment with a wounded paw. He took her to the vet but she couldn’t walk for a few days and she absolutely hated staying alone in the apartment. So he tried to come back home early and asked his landlady to visit his pet and keep him informed by sending him messages.

When Kara tried to pat her, the cat hissed. The animal kept sitting with her back turned to the Kryptonian every time Kara was sitting near Mon-El. She didn’t take any snacks from Kara, while she ate some treats from Alura and Eliza. She even allowed J’onn to take her on his lap and sat there for awhile. But the only person who made her purr like a little tractor was Mon-El.

Kara felt jealous.

The Kryptonian felt that Mon-El’s adopted mother disapproved of her. As much as it was ridiculous, it stung a little.

But the cat finally fell asleep on the couch and the party got jolly, with a tipsy Alex singing Christmas carols and making Kelly die from laughter, Winn and Nia winning the Christmas kissing competition and the whole group having lots of fun playing charades.

When Mon-El ate the burnt macarons saying she made them and they tasted exceptional, Kara felt the day was not that bad.

And then, suspiciously smoothly, her guests left the party (Winn and Nia together) and she was left alone with Mon-El. 

“Thank you for inviting us,” he said while tucking the cat in his jacket and heading to the door. “I really missed it.”

“Me too,” she said sincerely, knowing exactly what he meant and suddenly feeling very shy.

She nervously tugged at the material of her dress.

“I really like this dress, it brings back some good memories,” he said quietly.

“Oh?” she looked at what she was wearing and gasped.

It was the flowery dress she was wearing on their first and only Thanksgiving. 

If that was not a sign from Rao to put her crap together, then she was not Supergirl.

“You didn’t respond to my flirting,” she blurted out and Mon-El blinked.

“You were… flirting?” he asked slowly, his last two active brain cells were trying hard to process the information. “When?”

“My killer dress? Me breathing suggestively down your neck? Me kissing your… ugh, back?”

Mon-El blinked. “Oh. OH. I didn’t notice,” he said sincerely and then sweated a little because Kara made a face. “That doesn’t mean you suck at flirting.”

“Suck, you say,” she said slowly.

“Maybe I should just shut up,” Mon-El laughed nervously.

“Well, we have never really flirted, things just... happened,” Kara rolled her eyes and noticed the goddamned mistletoe was still hanging just above them.

Maybe… they could… make things happen again?

“So…” Kara made a little cough. “You came back, for good?”

“For good,” he said quietly, looking at her with longing.

“You are not married anymore,” she looked into his eyes.

“No.”

“And nothing is stopping us.”

He smiled, remembering. “Nope. Nothing is stopping us.”

They stared into each others eyes, so intensely, like they were the only people in the entire universe. And then in a blink of an eye they leant to kiss…

And well, maybe nothing was stopping them, but the cat was not nothing.

“MEOW!”

The animal made an angry hiss when they almost crashed her between them.

“Oops, sorry.” Mon-El gently put her on the floor. “Where were w-”

He didn’t manage to finish when Kara grabbed his shirt and unceremoniously threw him at the door.

But he didn’t complain, because his lips were occupied by hers, while she was kissing him senseless. 

And then, like years ago, they moved and landed on the couch, only with Mon-El on the bottom this time.

“MEOW!”

They stopped kissing and slowly turned their heads.

The cat was standing near the couch, swinging her tail and watching them angrily.

“Erm, why is she pissed off?” Kara murmured.

“Why should I know?” Mon-El whispered back.

“It’s your cat!”

“Only for like 10 days! I don’t-”

He was interrupted by the sound of a flushing water and J’onn J’onzz leaving the toilet.

Kara and Mon-El froze. 

Kara with one of her hands in his pants. 

Mon-El with his left hand on her ass. 

And his right hand under her shirt on her breast. 

“She is angry because she thinks the couch belongs to her now and you occupied it,” Space Dad said matter-of-factly and put his hat on his head. “Have fun kids,” he said and left the loft.

Kara and Mon-El looked at each other. 

“That was awkward,” he said slowly.

“Super awkward,” she agreed.

“A real mood killer.”

“Yep.”

They kept staring at each other. Kara bit the inside of her cheek. Mon-El coughed a little.

“On the other hand, it can’t get more awkward, right? So maybe, we should just continue?” He said hopefully.

“Absolutely,” Kara agreed without a second of hesitation and leant to kiss his neck but:

“MEOW!”

“Oh, for fuck’s sake!” Kara banged her forehead on his chest.

“Cat? Really?” Mon-El sighed heavily.

Kara raised her head and looked at him with squeezed, judging eyes.

“You call your cat a cat?”

“Yes? She’s a cat.”

“And her name is?”

“Uhm… Cat,” he said sheepishly.

“You named your cat Cat? That’s so wrong on so many levels, Mon.”

“Do we really need to have this conversation right now? While you still have your hand in my pants?” he asked a little annoyed.

“Well,” she moved that hand a little and smiled like a cheshire cat when he whimpered. “It seems you are still in the mood.”

Mon-El rolled his eyes. “Yes, so can we please move to the bedroo- EEK!”

He shrieked when she grabbed his shirt (yes, with the other hand still in his pants) and flew them to her bedroom.

Mon-El vs Kara: END GAME

The cat whose name was Cat rolled her one eye and jumped to the couch. 

She was cleaning her fur for a long time, while ignoring very weird noises that were coming from the other room. And then fell asleep on her couch. 

But in the middle of the night, she woke up and decided to change the location and find her dumb baby humanoid she was taking care of. 

She entered the bedroom and hopped onto the bed, wanting to curl herself on her humanoid’s chest, but the chest was occupied.

The weird female, who had smelled like she wanted to eat Cat’s humanoid earlier in the day, was lying flat on his chest. She was naked, drooling on his shoulder, smiling dumbly and looking very ugly by Cat’s standards.

Cat didn’t judge, her male humanoid was not a beauty either, like every other furless creature. But dear Bastet, their offsprings were going to be extremely ugly. 

Oh well, she was going to bring them rats anyway.

Cat looked at the female and swung her tail gently. 

She didn’t like that Kara female in the beginning, but well, she had a nice couch and her humanoid mated with her. Also, did she just purr in her sleep like a cat?

It seemed she needed to adopt another humanoid.

The animal gently climbed Kara’s naked back and curled into a ball on her waist. Then yawned and fell asleep, lulled by Kara’s purring.

My Top Ships 2018

I really enjoyed writing this article last year. So here we go again. Check out my favorite ships from movies and TV this year. 

12. The Goldbergs-Erica and Geoff

The Goldbergs has been one of my favorite sitcoms for a couple of years now and I have loved watching the development of Erica and Geoff’s relationship from a simple high school crush, to Erica discovering her feelings, to them now in the current season feeling like an old married couple at times. While they may still have their ups and downs I love how they are always there for one another and they are just adorable. Hope they’re in it for the long run like Geoff assumes they will be!

11. Throne of Glass-Chaol and Celaena 

At the beginning of 2018 I started reading Sarah J. Maas’ fantasy novel Throne of Glass. Instantly I could see the love triangle emerge between the assassin Celaena, the crown prince Dorian and the head of the king’s guard Chaol. While book one looked more like Celaena and Dorian would be together I always held out hope for the latter. And then I read Crown of Midnight! That book was one of my overall favorites and I got to watch this relationship form. It was beautiful and then everything blew up. I started the third book in the series and was instantly disappointed because it felt like an entirely new series. So while I have stopped reading it since then Chaol and Celaena will forever be one of my favorite ships. 

10. Supergirl-Kara and Mon-El

Mon-El returned to Supergirl last season and while Karamel was apart for the majority of the season viewers got to see a more mature Mon-El. There has always been much debate over his character as well as his relationship with Kara, but I have always been a fan of the Daxamite. In this season he returned to the present from the future where he was a part of the Legion of Superheroes and he was married. Kara, still recovering from the aftermath of season two, was thrilled to see him, but much had changed. While moments of this season were aggravating the two still had some great chemistry on screen. It was still very clear of their feelings for one another, but yet again Mon-El had to leave. This time taking Winn with him (which is a rant for another day). So while they might not have a future this is another ship that will always be one of my favorites. 

9. Victoria-Lord Alfred and Drummond

This ship instantly pulled my heart strings and ultimately (SPOILER ALERT) crushed my soul. Lord Alfred and Edward Drummond’s relationship started in season one of Victoria, but truly got its own story line in season 2. As expected in this masterpiece drama there were twists and turns that kept this couple part. Given the time period two men could not be together and Drummond was engaged to be married to a woman. But what none of us saw coming was his death. I still cannot believe it. He will be truly missed in the newest season which will air in the new year. 

8. Anne with an E-Anne and Gilbert

Netflix’s Anne with an E returned with a second season this year and we were blessed with more Shirbert moments between Anne Shirley and Gilbert Blythe. While the beginning of this season saw Gilbert at sea (going off from L.M. Montgomery’s novel), there were still some great moments between the two characters from Anne writing him letters about the “gold,” to Gilbert not noticing her hair and letting her know it was good to see her. And who could forget this important moment (above) from the finale. Fortunately for us the series has just gotten picked up for a third season. I cannot wait to see what’s in store next!

7. Daredevil-Matt and Karen

While against popular ships I found myself shipping Matt Murdock and Karen Page hard as I began season 1 of Daredevil this past spring. In season 1 I took every moment I could get between the two of them and then I was a little too excited when they got “together” in season 2. While it didn’t end well for the two of them there were some really great moments I find myself reliving on YouTube. I have not watched season 3 yet (mainly because I want to continue to watch the Marvel Netflix shows in order and I have only just finished The Defenders). With the recent news of the show being cancelled I can only hope these two end on good terms. (Even if it is not romantically as I may hope. Please no spoilers.)

6. Set it Up-Harper and Charlie

This romantic comedy quickly made its way into my heart and into my top 10 favorite movies (I KNOW). This is all thanks to its lead characters Harper and Charlie. These two assistants were witty, relatable and just had an overall great chemistry that I am upset they are not together in real life. I have honestly watched this movie far too many times and each time my love for this ship gets stronger. I feel like the movie ends too quick because I want to know more about what happens to them. It might ruin it but would it be too much to ask for a sequel, Netflix?? 

5. Legacies-All of them

Okay, so by saying ALL OF THEM I don’t think I’m necessarily cheating. This show is still in its beginning and still establishing itself. They are still finding their ships and we are discovering the characters. But I have to say I like so many of them that it’s hard to choose just one pairing. Julie Plec has done a FANTASTIC job of having a lot of her major cast interact with one another and they each bring out something different in one another’s characters. One day I’m shipping Hope and Josie and the next I like Hope and Raphael. You can really tell good writing and characters when you can like so many different combinations and not feel mad about it. If you aren’t watching Legacies make sure to tune into the CW because you are missing out. 

4. The Originals-Klaus and Caroline

Yes, you did see this ship on my list from last year and that is because Klaus and Caroline are one of my top OTPs. I was excited to see Klaus on the Vampire Diaries so it is no surprise that I was beyond excited to hear of Caroline coming to the Originals in its final season. It was great to see the pair in the same room again. They were both parents now and had grown so much. Every time they recognized that in each other I got chills. So [SPOILER ALERT] while Klaus “had to die” I am extremely glad that he and Caroline got closure for their ship. In a way they were endgame and as a Klaroline fan, always and forever, that’s all a girl could ask for. 

3. Dawson’s Creek-Pacey and Joey

Dawson’s Creek was my summer binge this year. I wanted something “retro” that was just about regular teens (no superhero powers or magic). Going into this show I obviously knew a good amount of spoilers seeing as how it started in the late 90s, so I knew that Pacey Witter and Joey Potter would eventually become a couple. I now just had to wait for the when...and while at times it might have felt excruciating, I took any and all moments between the two characters (even before season 3 when things really get set into motion). There is just something so great about a ship between two characters who “hated” each others guts and tease each other constantly. It was well worth the wait because these two have become one of my favorite all time ships. While I am permanently paused on season four (pre their first break up) I have watched a bunch of spoiler videos to know that these two wind up together, which warms the heart. 

2. Brooklyn Nine-Nine-Amy and Jake

While looking for a new TV show to watch earlier this year it was suggested to watch Brooklyn Nine-Nine. (Only once I started binge-watching the show did it get cancelled and then thankfully renewed by NBC.) What a great choice it was to start watching this show. The void that was left by The Office and Parks and Rec was instantly filled by this sitcom. The characters and story-lines were hilarious and of course I couldn’t help but fall in love with the slow-burn of Amy and Jake. Again due to spoilers of coming into a show that already exists I knew the two would wind up together, but it was still so great to be a part of. The two are adorable and while the story line does not always revolve around their relationship you know they are still together by a quick line they say in a scene or two. They are just so right for each other. Right now I am catching up on season 5 (about mid-way right now) and I cannot wait to watch the next season premiering in January. So excited to see where their relationship is headed.

AND NUMBER 1 FOR 2018 GOES TO.....

1. THE 100-Bellamy and Clarke 

That’s right last year’s number 2 became my number 1 in 2018! While separated for 6 years with Clarke on the ground and Bellamy in the sky the two found their way back to one another. You could definitely feel the tension between the two, which made complete sense after all their time apart but there was still something that brought them back together. My heart still melts when Bellamy finds out that Clarke is alive from Madi and seeing Clarke’s face when Bellamy tells Diyoza that she matters. This ship is the slowest burn of my life and while Jason Rothenberg may still claim that the two will never be (and that we should read the books for that) this latest season gave us Bellarke fans a reason to hope. From Octavia calling out Bellamy’s feelings and saving the traitor who he loves (OMG) to Clarke’s looks every time Bellamy and Echo were embracing. They are the first two to wake up out of the pods and meet Harper and Monty’s son. They are deeply connected and I can only hope for moments like this next season. For now I’ll just re-watch my favorite to hold me over (and that includes Bob and Eliza’s SDCC interviews which were adorable). 

 Here’s to another year. Cannot wait to see what is in store for 2019!!
